Here is an original, numbers matching, 19,110 mile 1968 Oldsmobile 442 Post Sport Coupe for sale.

This beast is 1 of 4,282 Post Sport Coupes produced, that will knock your socks off!  This piece of nostalgia is truly a blast to drive!  The 400 CI motor is a thumper that is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt rearend.  Due to the low optioned nature of this particular car, this must have been ordered with only one thing in mind-SPEED!

The body is in amazing shape, as you would expect for a car with 19,110 original miles.  The body is as straight as if it came off the factory floor, except for one small dent in the front left fender close to the headlight bezel (email me to request the close-up picture that shows how little damage there is).   There is NO RUST anywhere on this car!!!  There are minor scratches, specifically one on the right rear quarter panel, but this car's paint and body is gorgeous!

The interior is in very good condition for a 44 year old car.  It has its original parchment white bench seat, black carpeting, and black dash that includes an AM/FM radio, and the 3 spoke steering wheel.  Both the dash and the steering wheel are cracked, while the dash has a 1/2 inch hole just to the right of the ashtray.  The shifter to the manual transmission is a Hurst shifter with a black ball on top.  The rear seat area is also in very good condion, with what seems to be two black marker streaks on the seat back.

The original bronze colored engine is 400 cubic inches with a newer carburetor on top (we don't know where the original is located), and an air cleaner set-up that is from a W-30 car.

There are drum brakes at all 4 wheels.

The VIN number breakdown is as follows:     344778MXXXXXX

3-     Oldsmobile Division

44-    442

77-    Sport Coupe

8-      Model Year 1968

M-     Build Location-Lansing, Michigan

The remainder is the serial number of the car and can be seen in person.

The Body Tag breakdown is a follows:

073-  Build Date-July, 3rd Week

68-    Model Year 1968

3-     Oldsmobile Division

36-    442 (The Lansing, Mi plant had a strange coding; in other plants this should be 44 not 36)

77-    Sport Coupe

LAN-  Lansing, Michigan build location

452504 is the sequential body number

957-  White Bench Seat

S-     Lower Body Color:               Jade Gold

G-     Upper Body Color (Stripe):  Willow Gold

There seem to be no other options from the body tag.

We have made the following repairs to the car:

Engine-  Due to the previous owner having let the car sit for over 9 months without being started, the fuel in the tank gelled.  When the car was started the fuel caused issues with the engine.  The fuel tank, fuel lines and carburetor were emptied and cleaned, and the carburetor was rebuilt.  The heads were pulled and cleaned while the guides, valve faces and the valve seats were all ground.  The push rods and the valve lifters were also all replaced.  Thus, the following are all new- the fuel, oil and air filters; the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, the cylinder head gaskets, the valve cover gaskets, the air cleaner gasket; spark plugs; fuel pump; oil pressure switch; carburetor and choke kit.

Interior-  Door cards re-fitted; ignition bezel replaced, windshield wiper switch replaced; rear-view mirror glass was replaced.

Miscellaneous-  A new battery, and new keys for the trunk and doors were made.
